1) Take a flight to Mauritius
Well, there's only one way to reach this destination. Take a flight from wherever you are as many major airports in Asia, Africa, Europe and the UAE have direct flights to Mauritius.
Special note: If you plan to travel to Mauritius during the peak season, book your flights much in advance. Check whether your passport is valid for the next 6 months at least, and have an eye on the Visa process too. Cross-check the latest information about Visa requirements from the Mauritius High Commission (or the Embassy) located in your country. They have the latest information for you.
2) Decide on where you stay
You will most probably land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in Mauritius. If you pick one of Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas, you can surely ask for airport pickup services from the property you choose for your stay, and they will do the needful. Some other Blue Bay Mauritius hotels also offer this service, but it's always better to ask them and get it confirmed.
If your chosen hotel doesn't offer any shuttle services from the airport to the hotel, you will have to use the taxis and rental cars available at the airport.
3) Travelling within Mauritius - by buses
If you wonder how to get around Mauritius, note that there are several methods you can try out. Travelling by bus is a great option that you have out there, and when in Mauritius, you can go for either standard or express buses.
Express buses only have some selected stops, and they have AC in them. Both standard and express buses operate from 05.30 am to 08.00 pm, and their charges are very much affordable.
4) Other modes of transportation
If you find travelling in buses problematic and challenging, do not disappoint yourself! Mauritius has other alternatives for you, and they will all make your holiday much more joyous. You may get around using cars, scooters, bikes, taxis or even helicopters when you are in Mauritius.
Something is interesting about taxis in this island destination. They all have a tiny yellow box on either side of the doors and this box indicates the route they take. They are also easily recognizable, as they have a small sign on top.
5) Beach explorations
It's an island destination. So, just like every other island destination, Mauritius also is blessed with stunning beaches. Flic en Flac, Belle Mare and Le Morne are some of the most popular beaches here, and you may do water adventures or just sit back and relax on these beaches as much as you wish.
Special note: Beaches in Mauritius are great for water adventures such as snorkelling, windsurfing and kayaking. If you want to try something new and more adventurous, you can also try out an underwater sea walk even without having to know scuba diving.
6) Other Explorations
When in Mauritius, it's not just the sea, that you can explore. You can also explore the tea plantations, botanical gardens and even some amazing National Parks to admire the beauty of nature.
Do not also forget to explore Port Louis- the Capital City of Mauritius which is known for classy markets.
